The Cartesio table has been created as a new edition of the iconic table designed by Mario Bellini, for which in 1962 he won his first prestigious Compasso d’Oro award given by ADI (Associazione per il disegno industrial/industrial design association). Bellini originally designed the table in both squared and rectangular shape, but at the end he realised only the first version of it. Taking inspiration from this idea, Bottega Ghianda proposes also the rectangular shape. The table can be produced in thermo-treated acacia, heat-treated ashwood, natural chestnut with aluminium inserts. The peculiarity of Cartesio is the stratification of the entire structure in solid wood: combining three solid wood layers with two aluminium layers, which gives the structure solidity, stability and lightness at the same time.
