Farfallina Wins XXVIII ADI Compasso d'Oro 2024 Award
ADI's international jury decided to honor the Farfallina chair with the Compasso d'Oro Award and making it a part of the ADI Compasso d'Oro Collection. It was declared on April 22, 2004, by the Ministry of Cultural Patrimony and Activities to be of "exceptional artistic and historical interest."
Designed by Álvaro Siza, an internationally renowned Portuguese architect, Farfallina wins the award for its unique design that embodies the concept of lightness and minimalism.
Thanks to this prestigious award, Bottega Ghianda confirms itself as a symbol of excellence in Italian craftsmanship. By showcasing unparalleled skill in wood craftsmanship, a material that breathes life into distinctive projects, Bottega Ghianda has captivated the interest of esteemed international architects, resulting in the creation of extraordinary pieces.
Álvaro Siza chose Bottega Ghianda to create Farfallina, a chair with modern lines that is extraordinarily sophisticated and simple at the same time.
Initially known as "Borboleta" (butterfly in Portuguese), Bottega Ghianda's creation evokes the light and elegant animal not just in its name, but also in the structure itself: the curved anatomical backrest comfortably accommodates the body, perfectly balanced by the squared seat.
ADI Compasso d'Oro Award
"Since 1954 the most important award in the design world."
The Compasso d'Oro Collection 2024, which will find its permanent display in the ADI Design Museum, consists of the collection of products and projects that over the years have been awarded that prize and those that have received honorable mention.
This is the oldest and most institutional recognition in the design, which aims to highlight the qualities of Made in Italy products, but above all to recognize the value process of design.
